He delivers me from my enemies; Surely You lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man." (Psalm 18:48)

1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Any woman is susceptible. It doesn't matter if she's poor, affluent, beautiful, "tender-eyed," Christian, non-Christian, immigrant, bound, or free; any woman could, so all women should be protected.

I am a supporter of women's rights, women's mental and spiritual health, and women's safety. I've grown up in an abusive home and prayerfully won't repeat the cycle, which happened, in my family at large. I want to help shatter the sacred silence for my sisters in communities of faith who’ve experienced, witnessed, or know of one abused in their Christian relationship.

Sometimes the most silent, abused demographic are the churchgoing, the preacher's wives, the nursery attendants, the heads of ladies committees, etc. Oftentimes clergy refuse to address it, claiming it as a legal issue of which the church shouldn't be involved.

That's not the case for all, but definitely some, and it may keep our women silent because they haven’t found a safe place to share their pain. Also many women in the church believe they are to stay in abusive marriages because of the vow "til death do us part." That vow never meant until your death by the hands of your abuser.

I find a part of my purpose in life is to educate and inspire women through poetry and help prevent the cycle of abuse in Christian homes and relationships.

Survival Sisters is a supportive space for Christian survivors of Domestic Violence. Are you or do you know a Christian woman affected by abuse? You do not have to be ashamed nor should you submit to abuse.

Stay tuned to learn more about this mission and to support the women in your lives affected by abuse. Looking to make all homes an OASIS…Open And Safe InSide!
