Love Letters

Sometimes the most hated people are those who try with all of their hearts to love everyone.

“God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

When I was younger, I was the queen of love letters. I was a triple threat: A cute, hopeless romantic, with a pen. I was descriptive, poetic, nurturing, uplifting, generous, caring, mysterious, and flirtatious (don’t judge me) with my lyrical love word choice.

I would make eternal promises, profess my love, and describe how they made me feel inside; I would yearn for commitment and hope for a place in their hearts. With one look, I could make boys do a double-take, and with a letter, I could make them fall in love. I would fold up my little love letters, spritzed with Warm Vanilla Sugar and write “To: you, From: you know who” on the front and “For Your Eyez Only” on the back. Then I would pass them to the guy as we walked to lunch or as I was walking home from school. I was young, but I felt like I knew love like the back of my hand.

Can you relate? Maybe not to my extent, but to a hounding search for a love of your own? Yet, in my incessant, possibly, obsessive search, all I received in return was lust and temptation to sin – which I often fell into – The poem, "Fingerprints on God’s Temple," in my poetry book, alludes to that.

But God has a love that transcends all.

He IS love, therefore He is the Master of the Love Letter.

Think about it. On days when we can’t muster up the strength to take care of ourselves, He scribbles safety from harm on our hearts. When we can’t voice the 3-word phrase, I love you, I forgive you, or I am sorry, He inscribes air to breathe into our souls. Each day, God sends us invisible love letters and He’s waiting for us to open them up, read them and fall back in love with Him (Revelations 2:4).

What has He silently done in your life up to this moment to show His love? He’s kept you sane. He’s given you peace. He’s protected your family. He’s provided answers. He's promoted you. He's healed you.

He simply loves you and each letter demonstrates it.

For the month of FEBRUARY, we will uncover the hidden messages that God sends us in plain sight. We will open up a few love letters from Him and bask in the favor of His unending tenderness.

Are you ready to fall back in love with your first?

The first One who loved you before you even knew there was a you who could be loved...
The first One who held you before you knew what touch felt like...
The first One who confirmed you before you heard the sound that love made when it hit the chambers of your inner person...
The first LOVE who looked past your faults and saw your future with Him.

Yeah, that love. I want it. Do you? Okay, then!

C'mon and invite someone who's been looking for love in all the wrong faces and places and let's read some love letters together!

If He can love us at our darkest, we can love Him in the light.

In Peace,
